Ways We Can Help You
All of our services
are free. Case Management Staff assist members with linking to a wide range of needed services: finding housing, help with your income, school, medical needs, and work, to name just a few. We're also hear to listen, help you work through a problem, make a plan to get to your goals. Emotional Support We offer individual therapy, family therapy or consultation, groups, scheduled or drop-in times with case managers and other staff. The connections and friendships you'll make here will also be invaluable. We can also help you and your family members get along better. Crisis Services We are available in person or by phone 24 hours a day to help provide interventions in crises. Groups & other social stuff A great way to get social and emotional support, connect with others, learn from each other and the group leaders. See our Groups for Members page for details. You'll meet people you feel comfortable with, and we do fun stuff together like to go to movies, museums, special events, and a monthly dinner-and-a-movie night. Jobs & School We encourage you, as part of your recovery--when you're ready, to be working or in school. We offer on-site volunteer and paid positions for members; a full vocational services department (with Step Up - see below); personal coaching for learning or regaining job skills, everything from filling out an application to getting along with your boss to how to manage your illness so it doesn't interfere with work or classes. A Place to Be We work to have an atmosphere where you feel comfortable hanging out. We have a library (see below), computers, DVD player, games, art supplies, a kitchen, and other things to help you have a fun, safe place to be. Medications If you have MediCal or are without benefits and income, we have psychiatrist services available, including medications. Family Support Education, referrals, and support for family members. We can also work with families to help them live together or get along together better. Education and Information
Books, handouts, workbooks, DVDs and videos on the spectrum of mental illnesses as well as health, recovery, and independent living skills.
Our staff are knowledgeable about mental illness, treatments, recovery, health, benefits, resources and referrals, including how to navigate the often-complicated mental health sytem. Daily Needs Although our resources are limited, we can provide things you need for daily living, like toiletries, condoms & lube, food, clothing, bus tokens, and other items (what we have available varies over time). Also, more of these things, as well as daily breakfast and dinner, are available at Step Up on Second (see below). Access to Step Up on Second Being a Daniel's Place member also makes you a member of our parent agency, Step Up on Second. They offer similar services and resources, plus more. There are over 100 groups held there each month. Two tasty meals are served daily. Services are also free at Step Up on Second.
